Present Moment //

So thankful for my beautiful roommates. And their intoxicating love for God.
Such an amazing witness in my life and many others.

Today marks the 3rd week of school. You would think I would have the whole college routine down. But no, I don't. Everyday in college I learn something new.
Obviously from my courses, but also new life experiences. This past week I learned how to swing dance, and that homesickness never really goes away.
The friendships I make grow stronger everyday. My spiritual life has grown tremendously these past three weeks.
I've come to realize that my faith and spiritual life will be my strongest anchor the next four years and my whole life. Going to daily Mass during the week has taught me to take each day one at a time. Worrying about the future will get me no where. I have to learn to be completely content with whatever God's will is for me that very day.
Life is beautiful my friends. Enjoy the present moment.
And be thankful for another day to live out His will.

  2. Hi Marissa,
My name is Allison Ockenfels. My brother is also a freshman at Ave Maria (his name is Aaron (I think you have met him). I am also friends with your roommate Marissa M. from Iowa.

It is such a small world! I enjoy reading you blog!

    God Bless,
    Allison Ockenfels

    1. Hi Allison, I do know your brother! He's a great guy, glad I get to call him my friend. Thank you for reading my blog. It means the world to me.

  3. Nice post Marisa! I'm so excited for your college adventures and cannot wait to read more about them here! I think its key to be present to your new community as much as physically possible! Homesickness is the WORST, and Florida is far, but God has huge plans for you in Florida! Abide in His plan and you'll be alright!
